In the early 1980s, a group of dedicated persons led by Mr. Virat Sondhi, Mr. A.P. Khurana, Mr. J. Prasad, Mr. J.C. Batra, Mr. Laxman Mehta, Mr. P.L. Kohli, Mr. M.L. Khanna, Mr. Keshav Dayal, Mr. L.R. Kataria, Mr. N. Paul and many others formed an association at Saket for social and recreational purposes. With periodical meetings and constant interactions with like minded people, they formed “Saket Club – New Delhi” and started enrolment drive. Simultaneously, their search for a place far from the madding crowd picked up momentum and finally acquired a plot of land measuring 3.6 acres situated across Mehrauli – Badarpur Road, the present location of the Club.

On acquiring land, they stepped up activities through series of formal and informal meetings for layout and design of each proposed facility of their dream Club. They also involved devoted persons from Sainik Farms to include Cdr. Ajit Singh Wasu, Mr. H.S. Grewal, Mr. W.C. Kohli, Mr. S.S. Jaspal, Mr. S.K. Lakhotia and few others for enrolment drive, fund collection, construction projects and area improvement. Simultaneously, the General Body passed the resolution to change the name of the Club to “The Country Club”.

Notwithstanding several teething problems which any new organization would face, the Club in the late eighties, possessed an aesthetically landscaped building of exquisite design and architecture and started functioning on small scale essentially a home away from home and provided an imaginative range of exciting activities in a warm and cosy ambience marked by prompt and courteous service. Since 1990s, qualitative improvements through expansion of infrastructure, streamlining of functioning and creation of additional facilities have been continuing. The worthy members of the Club have been the major contribution for Club’s mission accomplishment. With their support and cooperation the Club has striven hard to improve and progressively add a number of facilities with a view to make it a paradise with all comforts and facilities. \
